What is a Catalogue Raisonné? A catalogue raisonné is a book of all the works by an individual artist. Included for every work should be photographs, sizes, information, and provenance (where the work has been).

Eventually, this website will encompass all of the known works of Richard Kozlow. Since, by his own estimate, the artist completed over a thousand paintings from 1950 to the end of the century, this will be a daunting task. Very incomplete records further complicate the task.

Typically, internet sites which compile an artist’s works do so to produce a book for sale. RichardKozlow.net has no commercial goals. Our goals are locating, completing information, and procuring an image for each Kozlow work. We do this to preserve the information for art historians and give more people the opportunity to view Kozlow works.

As you’ve no doubt noticed in the catalogue, we have archive-quality images for only a third of the works. For some paintings, we only have a black-and-white photo. (In many cases, we have even scanned a newspaper article or show invitation just to have some record of what a painting looks like.)

We are making steady progress. But, with Kozlow works hanging on walls all over the world, we will never have a complete catalogue without the help of Kozlow owners. Certainly, if you own a Kozlow work, you would like it officially catalogued.

We encourage your interest in this important, historic project and ask you to email any images or information you have about Richard Kozlow to: Abby Kozlow Gruber abby.gruber@gmail.com
